Winter in Mongolia from Singapore: A 6-Day Trip on MIAT's Direct Flights
A winter trip to Mongolia from Singapore is easiest this December and January: MIAT Mongolian Airlines flies Singapore–Ulaanbaatar nonstop twice a week from 15 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. When does MIAT fly between Singapore and Ulaanbaatar this winter?
MIAT's seasonal nonstop service runs twice weekly from 15 December 2026 to 17 January 2027 with a Boeing 767-300ER, according to AeroRoutes. The published times are:
OM1723: Ulaanbaatar 09:30 → Singapore 16:55.

The flight from Singapore lands in the small hours, so plan a hotel from arrival night and an easy first morning. Check the days of operation and fares directly with MIAT before booking, as AeroRoutes does not list them. For other new winter routes, see our roundup of Ulaanbaatar's winter flights from Asia.
Do I need a visa for Mongolia from Singapore, Malaysia or Hong Kong?
Not for a short trip. According to the Consular Department of Mongolia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (checked 27 October 2026), Singapore, Malaysia and Japan passport holders can stay up to 30 days without a visa, and Hong Kong SAR passport holders up to 14 days. These are standing agreements for all passport types.
Travellers from Hong Kong should check current flight options with MIAT. A 6-day stay sits well within the 14-day visa-free limit, and our Hong Kong to Mongolia travel guide has more planning tips.
What does a 6-day winter itinerary look like?
This plan keeps drives short and nights warm. It uses Enza Tours programmes that run in winter:
Day 1 – Arrive and rest: land at 02:55, transfer to your hotel and sleep in. Afternoon Ulaanbaatar city tour: Gandan Monastery, the central square and Zaisan Hill.
Day 2 – Terelj and dog sledding: our 1-day Mongolia Winter Tour to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, with dog sledding and the Chinggis Khaan Statue at Tsonjin Boldog. Read more in our dog sledding guide.
Days 3–4 – A night with a nomadic family: the 2-day Terelj tour, staying in a heated ger, with time for a winter horse ride and a dark night sky.
Day 5 – Wild horses: a day trip to Khustai National Park to look for Przewalski's horses (takhi).
Day 6 – Fly home: the 09:30 MIAT departure lands in Singapore at 16:55 the same day.
With two flights a week, a 6- or 7-day stay usually lines up best with the schedule. Night skies are part of the appeal, too: see our post on stargazing in Mongolia this winter.

How cold will it be, and what should I pack?
Colder than anything most Singapore travellers know. The UK government's Mongolia travel advice gives a range from +35°C in summer to −40°C in winter and at night, and warns of heavy snow and blizzards.
Thermal base layers, a warm mid-layer and an insulated, windproof jacket.
Insulated trousers, snow boots and thick wool socks.
Mittens, a warm hat, a scarf or neck gaiter, sunglasses and lip balm.
A small thermos for hot tea, and a power bank kept in an inside pocket.

What this means for your trip
Book early: the MIAT service runs only from 15 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, over Christmas and New Year.
Keep it short and flexible: Ulaanbaatar plus Terelj and Khustai avoids long winter drives.
