Mongolia Visa 2027: No Decision on Visa-Free Entry Yet, and a Scam Warning
Mongolia visa 2027 question in short: tourists from 34 countries, including the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and New Zealand, can visit Mongolia without a visa for up to 30 days only until 31 December 2026. As of 28 October 2026, no official page we checked announces an extension into 2027. At the same time, Mongolia's Immigration Agency is warning foreigners about paid "visa brokers" and forged visa permits, so apply only through official channels.

What is the Mongolia visa 2027 situation today?
The temporary visa-free scheme for 34 countries still ends on 31 December 2026, and nothing official replaces it yet. Mongolia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Department lists the 34 countries as "temporarily exempt from visa requirements until the end of 2026" for tourism stays of up to 30 days (checked 28 October 2026). The UK Foreign Office's entry requirements page, updated on 19 October 2026, gives the same end date: 31 December 2026.
The Immigration Agency of Mongolia publishes the list of countries exempted "in 2026": 32 European states plus Australia and New Zealand. Neither page mentions 2027.
Why is there no decision yet?
The exemption has been renewed one year at a time, and last year's renewal came at the last minute. A review by Travel And Tour World (8 October 2026) traces the scheme to Government Resolution No. 1 of 4 January 2023 and the 2026 extension to Resolution No. 223 of 24 December 2025, and found no confirmed extension for 2027 in the official records. VisasNews reported that the 2026 extension was made public on 31 December 2025, citing Mongolia's embassy in France.
Demand is not the issue. The Mongolia Tourism Organization reported on 7 October 2026 that Mongolia had already passed its total number of foreign visitors for 2025. A strong season is not a decision, though. We will update this story when the government announces one.

Who is affected, and who is not?
Only travellers from the 34 temporary-scheme countries, and South Koreans on a separate tourist exemption, face a change on 1 January 2027. The Consular Department lists South Korea's 90-day tourism-only exemption as running from 1 June 2022 to 31 December 2026.
Many other passports rely on standing agreements with no 2026 end date on the same consular list: the United States (90 days), Germany and Canada (30 days each), and several Asian markets covered below. Check your own passport on the official list before booking.
How do Mongolia visa scams work?
The Immigration Agency says people are selling fake visa help online. In a notice titled "Attention to Foreign Nationals, Inviting Individuals, and Legal Entities!" it warns about social media posts, especially on WeChat, that promise to process Mongolian visas, visa permissions and residence permits for a fee. It describes such brokerage as illegal and names a former employee and a foreign national who allegedly took payments for it.
A second notice describes five travellers who were denied boarding in Beijing on 13 February 2026 because their Mongolian visa permits were forged. The permits were missing from the immigration database and carried QR codes that led to fraudulent links.
Online fraud is a wider concern in Mongolia. Montsame reported on 23 October 2026 that a new public website, zalilan.113.mn, explains common scams and offers tools to check suspicious links and emails. Cybercrime made up 32% of recorded crimes in Mongolia in 2026, up from 19% in 2021.
What this means for your trip
Travelling before 31 December 2026: if your passport is on the 34-country list, you can still enter visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after arrival, per GOV.UK.
Travelling in 2027: book flights and camps on your dates, but plan time for a visa in case the exemption lapses. Our visa service page explains how we support guests on our tours.
Only use official channels: the Immigration Agency names its website immigration.gov.mn, its hotline +976 1800-1882 and its chatbot as the official sources. Its notice says real visa authorisations come from the isf.mn service domain.
Never pay a stranger for a "guaranteed" visa. If an offer arrives by social media or messaging app, check it against the official pages first.

Planning from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong or Japan?
Your visa-free stay does not depend on the 31 December deadline. The Consular Department lists standing visa-free stays of 30 days for Singapore, Malaysia and Japan, 14 days for Hong Kong SAR and 90 days for Macau SAR (checked 28 October 2026).
