Unique Tours in Ulaanbaatar: What Enza Tours Offers in 2026

Enza Tours — the locally owned operator behind Mongolian Tour Guide — runs its unique tours out of Ulaanbaatar: one-day trips to Khustai's wild horses and the giant Chinggis Khaan statue, winter dog sledding, Naadam and Golden Eagle Festival tours, multi-day Gobi and horse-trekking itineraries, and fully custom private trips, all with local guides and groups of 1–15.

Almost every trip we run begins and ends in the capital, so whatever your time budget — a 48-hour stopover or a three-week expedition — there is a route that fits. Here is the line-up, grouped by how much time you have.

Day tours from Ulaanbaatar

If you are in the city on a stopover, three classics fit into a single day. The Khustai National Park day tour gets you to the takhi — the world's only truly wild horses — and back by dinner. The Chinggis Khaan statue and Terelj National Park pair granite valleys with the 40-metre steel horseman east of the city. And in winter, a day of dog sledding near Terelj turns the cold into the whole point of the trip.

All of our short itineraries, including these, live on the Mongolia short tours page — most need nothing more than warm clothes and a day of your time. For more ideas within reach of the capital, see our guide to destinations around Ulaanbaatar.

Festival tours: Naadam and the eagle hunters

Two events anchor Mongolia's calendar. Naadam, each July, fills the capital with wrestling, archery and horse racing — our Naadam Festival tour combines the stadium ceremonies with countryside naadams where you can stand at the finish line of a cross-country horse race on the open steppe. In autumn, the Golden Eagle Festival in western Mongolia gathers Kazakh eagle hunters and their birds near Ölgii — the single most photogenic weekend in the country.

Multi-day trips into the countryside

The signature routes run from four days to two weeks. The 4-day Gobi tour covers the singing dunes of Khongoryn Els, the Flaming Cliffs and camel country at a pace that suits a working traveller's leave. Riders can go deeper on the 8-day horse trekking tour, moving between nomad camps the way Mongolians have for centuries. Longer grand tours stitch the Gobi, the Orkhon Valley and the northern lakes into one loop.

Going north instead of south, the 10-day Pearl of Mongolia tour to Lake Khuvsgul trades dunes for a 136-kilometre alpine lake, larch forest and reindeer-herding country near the Russian border. Timing matters more than destination in Mongolia: the main season runs June to September, the festivals have fixed windows, and winter has become a season of its own — our month-by-month guide to the best season for Mongolia tours lays out what each part of the year is good for.

On most routes you choose the comfort level — camping, staying with a nomadic family, or tourist ger camps — so the same journey can be a budget adventure or a soft landing.

Custom and private itineraries

The most unique tour we offer is the one that does not exist yet. Tell us your dates, interests and pace, and we build a private route around them — photography-first, family-friendly, halal-catered or horse-heavy. Start from any itinerary on our Mongolia tours page and bend it, or start from a blank map. We covered what makes that approach different in what makes Enza Tours different from other operators.

Frequently asked questions

Do all tours start in Ulaanbaatar?

Nearly all. Trips begin with a pick-up at Chinggis Khaan International Airport or your hotel in the capital, and end back in the city. Western Mongolia tours include a domestic flight to Ölgii.

How big are the groups?

From one to fifteen travellers, never more. Private departures for two people are routine, and families often travel as their own group.

What should I book if I only have two or three days?

A Khustai or Terelj day tour plus a night in a ger camp is the best short introduction — our best local tours in Ulaanbaatar guide ranks the options, and the Mongolia Tour Guide FAQ answers the other questions travellers ask before booking.
