14 DAYS: HORSE TREKKING TO EIGHT LAKES AND GOBI DESERT MONGOLIA TOUR

We start our Mongolia Travel from Enza Tours LLC office. Before we start our tour guide and local driver will introduce them. This incredible Overall and driving and horse trekking trip take you to natural and cultural wonders in Central Mongolia: the hidden pristine LakeTerkh and the stunning Khorgo volcano, the legendary capital city Kharkhorin, Khogno Khan and amazing eight lakes. You will experience how landscape and cultural sightseeing blend easily in Mongolia – you will have the chance to visit families of nomads, remote Buddhist monasteries and to take part in horse-riding and hiking and Gobi Desert.  There are also endless opportunities for photography.

Day 1. Baga gazriin chuluu

We will drive to the beautiful Baga Gazariin Chuluu, and it is a local protected area. This is a picturesque granite mountain with an elevation of 1751 meters above sea level in the Granite zone of Mongolia territory. There are some interesting sites to visit: a Buddhist temple ruin used by the monks, a stone hole with spring water for the eyes and a small cave.

Day 2. Tsagaan Suvraga

After breakfast, we will drive to our next point. With its fantastic colour combinations, Tsagaan Suvarga or “White Stupas” is one of Mongolia’s most magnificent natural wonder. It is interesting to discover the scared cliffs of Tsagaan Suvarga, facing east from a distance it looks like the ruin of an ancient town or a complex of white stupas. Over a hundred thousands of years, the wind has carved this fantastic natural wonder. The cliff is 62 meters high and 400 meters wide. Tsagaan Suvarga was a sea bottom, and its eroded cliffs are rich in fossil seashells.

Day 3.  ”Three beauty mountains” National Park

After breakfast, we will drive to the well know a place “Yoliin Am,” it is the narrow ice canyon of a river that flows through 2815 meters high of sea level Zuun Saikhan Mountains. The gorge sheered rocky walls with a height of about 200 meters high in the central part. This area has been protected since 1965 and has an area of 70 square kilometres. However, today “Yoliin Am” is one of the Strictly Protected Areas of Mongolia.

Day 4. “Khongoryn Els” dunes

After breakfast, we will discover the beautiful Khongor Els Sand Dunes with an extraordinary length of 180 kilometres and 15-20 meters full lie on the northern part of the mountains of Sevree and Zuulen. The vast dunes are part of the desert zone that makes up around 3% of Mongolian territory.

Day 5.” Khongoryn Els” dunes

On this day, we will discover the area and having a camel trial. We also recognise natural springs surrounded by animals and green grass. After that, we can have some traditional Mongolian BBQ with hot stone. In the evening, we will climb again to the dunes for sledging and watch scene sunset. While the climb up to the dunes, you will see many people from different countries.

Day 6. Bayan Zag flaming cliffs​

After breakfast, we will drive to next point Bayanzag; it is located near the centre of Bulgan Soum, is internationally famous for the paleontological discovery of dinosaurs remains from the Paleolithic Era that includes complete skeletons, eggs, and hatchlings of the Cretaceous Period. Dinosaurs skeletons discovered here including Protoceratops, Oviraptor and the heavily armoured Pinacosaurus that were living 70-80 million years ago. Flaming Cliffs were found in 1922 by the explorer Roy Chapman Andrews, who visited in Mongolia.

Day 7. Ongyn Hiid

We will drive to Ongyn temple; it was established in the 1760s by Bari Yonzon Khamba in a small mountainous bank area along the Ongi River. During that time, the monastery had over 1000 monks and a complex of around 30 temples. The Ongi temple is still active, but now only a few monks perform its functions.

Day 8. Orkhon Valley

We will drive to the Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall; it is on the Ulaan River flows through volcanic basalt rocks formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes around twenty thousand years ago. The Waterfall cascades from an impressive height over 20 meters with a width around 10 meters and extends for 100 meters of the Orkhon River.

Day 9. Eight lakes

The Khuisiin Naiman Nuur, known as “Eight Lakes,” with an over 116 square km area, it protected as a natural monument since 1992. The lakes of Naiman Nuur lie at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level. In this area, red deer, wild Argali sheep, Siberian ibex, musk deer, wild boar, duck, and other birds are living. In the morning, we will prepare the horses, staff that we need for the trip while you are having breakfast. Then we will start horseback tour to the eight lake tour. This day, we will stop “Bodongiin Am” as local calls and cook traditional food and stay overnight there.

Day 10. Eight lakes

After breakfast, we will pack luggage. We will ride our horse to Khuist Lake. This Lake is dotted with a large rock island. We will pass a high mountain from where we will be able to see two lakes. We will stay nomadic family. Explore the yak herder family lifestyle. You can help the family. For example, to bring animals, chop wood, clean the animal areas, and make dairy products. Stay overnight in a nomadic family’s Ger or tent Camping.

Day 11. Eight lakes

After breakfast, we will pack all the luggage on the horse, and we start the trip back to “Orkhon” Valley. We will pass high Mountain and see two lakes.

Day 12. Orkhon valley

After the long horse trekking tour, we will stay one day here Waterfall to refresh ourselves for the next days. This day, we will cook traditional Mongolian Barbeque or dumplings for you. In the evening, we will play traditional Mongolian game Shagai, Khuruu and cards playing while having a Mongolian beer etc.

Day 13. Karakorum city and Khogno Khaan National Reserve

The Kharakhorum was established in 1220 and was the capital city of the Great Mongolian Empire. Chinggis Khaan and his descendant Khaan Ugudei, Guyug, and Munkh lived here ruling the empire. Soldiers of the Chinese Ming Dynasty destroyed the town in the 14th Century. The ruins of Karakorum have been protected since 1961 and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Once we reach there, we will visit the “Erdenezuu” monastery to discover tombs, a temple, and a real Buddhist temple. After that, we will visit the Wall of the Mongolian Empire to learn information.

Day 14. Hustai National Park and Back Ulaanbaatar

We will see Takhi, the Asian wild horse. If you have a chance, see wolf, argali sheep and deer. Enjoy small hiking and photographing the charming landscape and wildlife. Finally, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar.
