On Saturday evening, June 6, MIAT Mongolia Airlines flew to Australia to bring home more than 260 Mongolian nationals. The chartered repatriation flight is Mongolia's first-ever direct passenger flight into Australia. Dave Vosen, Ambassador of Australia to Mongolia, tweeted about the charter flight between Sydney and Ulaanbaatar, "Very pleased to assist the departure of the first-ever MIAT flight on its way to Australia. A historic event for relations between Flag of Australia and Flag of Mongolia. Hopefully, it is the first of many that directly links our students, companies, investors and new markets for trade. Safe compatriots on the flight home! The flight, originally scheduled to arrive in Ulaanbaatar on Monday morning, has taken off from Sydney this morning and will land on the evening of June 8, Monday, at Chinggis Khaan International Airport after making a fuel stop in Cebu City, Philippines.
